Whitening toothpastes, gels, and strips

Many toothpastes claim to whiten teeth, but most of them do not contain any substances that actually whiten teeth. They remove recent surface stains, but are unable to penetrate long-standing stains. Whitening strips are adhesive bands that are placed onto the teeth in the front of the mouth. The strips contain small amounts of bleaching agents like peroxide. Whitening gels are placed into dental molds and worn in the mouth for 10 to 20 minutes. Gels also contains natural whitening substances or bleaching agents, but in a slightly higher concentration than those found in strips. These products are relatively inexpensive and are more effective for people who have minor discoloration or to help maintain the results of professional whitening. Those with more pronounced yellowing may not see a big difference in color after using these types of products.

Professional Teeth Whitening in Norwood

Any type of whitening agent can cause tooth sensitivity, or exacerbate an existing sensitivity. Some people may not be able to get professional whitening because of extreme sensitivities, so it is important to talk to your dentist about this before you consider any type of whitening product. The Various Risks Of Thumb Sucking} Jun 17

Submitted by: Tracey Reshard

Loving parents can’t help but get worried and afraid of their baby’s dental health. This is because babies and children are prone to different dental issues. Dental problems are health challenges. This generally transpires if an individual is practicing bad oral habits. Thumb sucking is among most prevalent bad habits these days.

Thumb sucking is a bad practice that’s usually carried out by a kid. Pediatric dentists established that this sort of behavior is the most common concern proclaimed by parents. Worried parents typically asked their dentists whether thumb sucking is hazardous to their baby’s dental health. Great news is they’re not. This is because thumb sucking is part of the baby’s growing development. In other words, this practice is partly normal. In some instances, children stop thumb-sucking the moment they reached 2-4 years of age. This happens before the permanent (secondary) teeth erupt. However, dentists suggest that every parent should keep track of the kid’s behavior especially if they reached 6-8. Permanent teeth begin to erupt during those ages. Thus, any bad oral habits have to be averted because it can provide unhealthy effects on teeth and jaws.

Thumb-sucking has huge implications to dental health. Dental specialists discovered that if thumb-sucking habit is prolonged, it could possibly produce and create dental problems, like:

Malocclusion – Malocclusion is the technical term for improper alignment of teeth. This dental issue is the commonest effect of prolonged thumb-sucking. Malocclusion is labeled in three classifications. And although this affliction can be resolved by dental treatments, specialists confirmed that quitting this practice earlier is the best solution for this concern. Alternatively, parents may go for dental braces and oral surgery to correct malocclusion.

Speech problems – Aside from malocclusion, speech difficulties may also develop if your kid won’t stop such practice. Speech issues involve difficulty of pronouncing words and tongue thrusting. Youngsters with speech issues often suffer from speaking Ts and Ds. And as you neglect this difficulty – your kid might produce severe issues regarding his growth and speech development.

High, Narrow and Deformed Palate – Prolonged thumb-sucking can affect the form of the roof of the mouth. This habit can induce deformed palate. Dental professionals confirmed that narrow, high palates are results of thumb-sucking. Gradually, this problem can modify the bone structures which produce an unnatural V shape. Deformed palates can be avoided when you persuade your kid to quit such behavior.

Although there are orthodontic treatments available today, experts still advised youngsters to give up the said deed. Orthodontic therapies are expensive. Consequently, consider giving up the practice rather than spend a good fortune.

Thumb sucking can be solved if parents begin to praise their kids about quitting the behavior. Instead of scolding them, best solution is to persuade them. Sometimes, thumb-sucking is carried out when a kid requires comfort. If this happens to your kid, the finest way is to provide care to minimize anxiety. In addition to the following guidelines is offering rewards. Kids are typically thrilled to things they find entertaining. You can offer them rewards inturn of giving up the habit. Last is bringing them to a pediatric dentist. These experts could help explain to children regarding the unwanted side effects of thumb-sucking.

Dental visits are essential to kids. This can prevent dental issues whilst enabling them to find out the several poor impacts of sucking their thumb.

Many people today may consider purchasing one of the over-the-counter teeth whitening kits that are routinely advertised. However, to get a good whitening job, one will need to see a professional dentist. Dentists are able to use more powerful and more aggressive types of bleaching solutions for the teeth. These products are often able to remove many of the stains that an over-the-counter kit may be unable to handle.

In many cases, a Cosmetic Dentistry office will also have equipment that can speed the process up tremendously. This can include special types of UV lights and lasers that, when angled towards the teeth, can reduce the time the chemicals in the bleach need to accomplish their task. This can be of great benefit to many patients who are busy and do not have the time to sit and wait for a bleaching product to activate. Visit website

When one decides to seek help for dental stain issues, he will want to meet first with the dentist to discuss the options that are available. A dentist will generally try to correct the problem of discolored teeth by using whitening types of treatments. However if this is unsuccessful, the dentist may recommend that the patient consider other types of treatments such as veneers.

Veneers can be a good option for a patient who is faced with stains that are particularly stubborn or other dental issues. When a patient chooses veneers, a mold will be created of their teeth so that specially designed porcelain sleeves can be created that will fit over the teeth securely. These sleeves are created in a tone of porcelain that will blend in with the patient’s other teeth. By doing this the dentist can limit his or her treatments to just the teeth that have stains or other types of discoloration. Once these sleeves are fitted and applied to the teeth, the patient will be left with a beautiful smile and a restoration of their self-esteem and confidence.

How To Smack Down The Common Symptoms Of Heartburn Gerd Sep 17

By Walt Brown

The anguish from heartburn that happens with folks who endure the symptoms from GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is occasionally so terrible that a heart attack is suspected. The pain emanates from stomach acids being pushed back up the esophagus and into the throat. Because the esophagus is in the chest area between the lungs, the acid stirs up the esophagus and causes pain, sometimes so excruciating that it is logical for those suffering from GERD to mistakenly believe they are having a heart attack. That is very traumatic and disturbing.

Most common symptoms of GERD heartburn come about after a individual has a meal. For a lot of people, heartburn is a trouble they have to address with for their entire lifespan. There is generally a period of time where it repeatedly happens or the intensity increases and this can happen for weeks or months prior to the attacks and the intensity goes away or is reduced.

Other elements that lead to acid reflux and the most common symptoms of GERD heartburn include the amount and the type of liquids that reflux from the stomach into the esophagus, the stomach not operating normally while in the vacating process and the esophagus not clearing away properly. Occasionally the band of muscle located around the lower end of the esophagus doesn’t open and close at the suitable times or individual saliva is not properly neutralizing stomach acid.

Representative Heartburn Symptoms

Heartburn happens in back of the heart therefore the term heartburn. People having common symptoms of GERD heartburn may have to manage with food and liquid moving up from their stomach and into their throat and at times to their mouth. They generally feel a bitter taste in their mouth when this happens. Other common symptoms of GERD heartburn include belching, temporarily loosing the ability to speak, a prolonged cough and problems swallowing. Heartburn is generally not considered to be a serious condition, however for people who have persistent heartburn or terrible heartburn, health troubles can happen.

Heartburn Medications

Antacids are for sales that are efficient in neutralizing stomach acid and bringing down the common symptoms of GERD heartburn. All the same, antacids are not really successful at assisting people who have serious heartburn. Ask your physician about the class of drugs that act to preclude acid reflux from happening. Theses medications function by increasing the tautness on the barrier between your esophagus and stomach, while a few are configured to ameliorate the body’s capability of evacuating the stomach fluids.

Listen closely. Your physician is your first line of defense against GERD heartburn. Physicians acquainted with this morbid malady know that reducing the acid in your stomach will alleviate the pain in your chest. There are many over-the-counter antacid medications that are available, but don’t try and guess which ones are best from watching the television commercials. Consult a physician who can sort out the various medications available and select the best one for you based upon diagnostic tests. Guessing is not an option here. Your health is paramount here. You may need a higher dosage than is available over-the-counter at your local pharmacy.

When I Was A Kid There Was No Such Thing As Dental Implants} Jan 21

Submitted by: Jonaha Knaacik

When I was a kid there was no such thing as dental implants. The only thing a dentist could do to a bad tooth was try to fix it or yank it. But dental implants are the new thing nowadays. I don’t know for sure but I think implants might be necessary because of gum disease. Bone grafting, I believe is an essential part of implants and I hear dental implant costs are enormous. I don’t know if it’s popular because dental health is more of an issue today or because vanity plays an important role. After all, who wants a smile with a gaping whole in your teeth. I guess dental implants can also be an alternative to dentures. I remember my grandmother taking her teeth out every evening and putting them on the table top each night before bedtime. The more I think about it dental implants sound that much better.

Dental implants involve a term called Maxillofacial surgery performed, needless to say, by Maxillofacial surgeons. Believe it or not, Maxillofacial surgery is one of the nine specialties of dentistry. I wonder what the other eight are. Suffice it to say that it has to do with the soft and hard tissues of the neck, jaws, face and skull. It is an internationally recognized specialty, probably because you have to be a specialist just to say it.

When I looked up dental implant on the internet, I learned that anciently the Mayans used it. Then it wasn’t until 1952 that a dentist a Dr. Linkow did over 19,000 implants. It’s interesting how in earlier times people view new procedures with trepidation so the practice faded away until recently.

More and more people are participating in dental implants. Patients are more concerned with the cosmetic aspects of it as with anything else. Dental implants are now a common procedure among dentistry today. Treatments are done regularly and the more procedures that are done the more the cost of dental implants comes down.

Although there are still various controversies surrounding dental implants. Are they necessary? How long does it take to heal from this surgery? The arguments for healing range from two to 18 months. If the implants are not allowed to heal properly before loading and other work is done, then the tooth could fail.

Loading to my understanding has to do with placing the dental implant. Before you can have a dental implant you must have and extraction. That implant must be placed in the hole, for lack of a better term, from which the original tooth was extracted. Evidently, the argument lays with how long it takes for that bone to heal from which the tooth was pulled. Some dentist feel that the implant should be placed immediately after the extraction and others feel the bone should rest and heal before placing the implant. As with anything, there are two sides of the coin.

I’m a much simpler person. If I lose my teeth, I will probably take the easier and much cheaper route of dentures. I have not heard too many positive reports on dental implants. On the other hand I’m certain that it won’t belong before the process of dental implants is perfected and some day it may be as easy as getting a cavity filled.
